Gabby Cano, one of the staff at the Victoria location, shares her experiences with the patients at Neuragenex. She shares how much positive outcomes she’s witnessed over the course of her working at the clinic.
She also expresses how much she values the personal relationships she has developed with the patients, and the deep sense of care and affection she feels for the patients, considering them as part of their extended family.
This is what Gabby has to say:
To me, I mean at least, like I said we see seventy patients a day. And at least out of thirty of them in a day, they’re like, “Oh my gosh, this is amazing.”
Like even a patient I had earlier, he’s barely on his second treatment on his hands. And I’m just like, “How do you feel like?” And he’s like, “I don’t even get cramps anymore and this is barely my second appointment. I don’t get pain and I can just do stuff at home, and I’m not cramping up. I don’t have to stop and take medicine. I didn’t even think that it would work like that.”
One thing he hates, I guess he’s a firefighter or something, and he said, “One thing I hate is needles and electricity.” And he’s like, “And I have to do that every day with the IVs but it’s working, So, I’m fine with it.”
I can’t say how many patients we have off the top of my head. But I can say maybe one or two out of what we see, seventy a day, in a week. Maybe one or two don’t really say that it’s helping. The rest of them, the majority of them, 68, 69 of them are like, “Yeah, I can walk again.”
We have a patient, she was wheelchair-bound. And now she comes in with her son in a cane. She’s like, “Oh, I’m moving around and everything.” And she's only been here maybe two months. So, it’s great everywhere. I haven’t seen, like I said, maybe one or two that are like,”No, this isn’t for me.” I'd rather it be a hundred percent, but I mean that’s perfect. So, I’m glad.
Why are you telling me that? Now I’m gonna cry. It’s just that we get that with them. We get that relationship with them and it’s just, it’s great.
Like even when we find out that somebody’s sick or we had a patient, she had to stop coming because [of] her husband. Out of nowhere, he would come with her every day to treatments. And he had got put on hospice.
And then a week ago, he passed. And we’re just like, “What?” It’s so heartbreaking. I mean, we don’t know them, we don’t know their life. But we’ve grown with these people for so long. So, I mean, I love them all, we all joke around. They bring us gifts, all the time, and they bring us food. They definitely are our family, so it’s good.
Yeah, for sure. I love it. It’s just, being with everybody. So close in one big room. You’ll see patients yelling at each other from across the bay. They’re like, “Oh, hey friend.” And they just met us here. They met them here. So it’s great to see. The friendships that we make and the friendships that our patients make with other patients. It’s a great environment to be in. So, I love it.
