My name is Katrina Betsil, and I came to Neuragenex because I was having upper back pain. There was a lot of burning sensation in my upper back in between my shoulder blades, which was causing a lot of weakness in my arms.
My rheumatoid arthritis is mainly in my lower back and down, and that’s where that mainly affects me. My arthritis pain I get treated with the RA medication I take. So, I can deal with that, but the upper back was getting a lot to me because I type all day. Sitting at a computer, that just burning pain, just really was irritating me at the end of every day.
I can go home and sit on a heating pad for a little bit to help with my RA. And, with medication, that was going away but nothing I was doing at home was helping the upper back pain. It is like ice pick, and then it was intense burning-like. And then, once it starts, you can’t get it to go away.
And especially if you’re sitting at a computer all day. You’re typing and working. You can’t just quit working. No matter how you try to adjust, sit properly, [and] adjust yourself, you can’t adjust yourself correctly enough to get that burning pain to go away at the end of the day.
And then even going home, trying to sit and watch TV, or cook dinner, eat dinner, any activity you do, that burning pain just really doesn’t go away. It was just so irritating to sit there. By eleven o’clock in the morning, you already have that burning sensation, and you still have five or six more hours of work to do.
Muscle rubs, creams, all, you know, just anything over the counter that you could, kind of, think of. I’ve been to physical therapy several times and, you know, learned all different types of techniques. But, it just still never really, I could never get it to go away all the way.
Sometimes, even picking up a cup, a 40-oz cup, I had to start using ones with a handle because I would almost drop my cup or I have to use two hands. Because of the weakness it was causing in my arms.
My dad actually found out about Neuragenex. He’s 87, and he was having a lot of foot issues. And he found this place, and so he was telling me about it. So then that’s when I called and got my doctor to refer me here. And I really just don’t want to be on more medication.
My goal is to come off of medication. So I’ve come off my blood pressure medication, I’ve come off my diabetic medication, and so I’m working on trying to come off medication and not get on more.
I’ve actually finished. So I came for 12 sessions which was two a week for six weeks. And, today was my last day, was my last, like, follow-up visit at the end of my program.
I’ve always been told that I have a high tolerance for pain. So my pain level, for me, was probably about a six or a seven. And today, I would say it’s about a two. I feel like it really helped with the pain.
I feel like it just helped a whole bunch of getting all of that in my upper back. It’s just where I don’t, like I said, at the end of the day, I don’t have that burning sensation anymore. It actually felt good. It felt like a massage, almost a little bit. I mean, the way it would just go through your body, up there. It felt like a really high, intense massage.
So, by the time I left, and especially ‘cause I have heated car seats. I would get in there on my way home, and it would just be nice and relaxing, on my way back to work, or my home, or wherever I was going when I was done.
They’re very super friendly here. When you’re in the room getting your treatment, you’re with the other patients, and the tech that was here, Cristina, she’s super friendly. And everyone here is really friendly and, to me, that meant a lot.
So, she was very friendly, really knowledgeable, [and] explained everything. Cause on your first visit, you’re kind of like ‘I don’t know how this is gonna go’, you know. She explained everything really well.
Definitely they’re non-invasive. Everyone is very friendly here, and it’s definitely worth the traffic ‘cause it worked and it helped. I already talked to the doctor today about coming back in the new year to help with my lower back pain.
Definitely, when you’re not in pain all the time, I mean I have some sort of pain all the time. But, to have it eased up as much as it has, has helped a lot. I love to knit and craft. We have a side craft business, so I’ve been able to do that a little bit more which has been nice.
