What We Do

Stop Burning, Sharp Pain From Cluster Headaches Today

Cluster headaches are incredibly painful, often causing intense burning and sharp pain around or behind the eye, which can radiate to your face, neck, and head. They are also very rare, affecting only 0.1 percent of the population.

However, if you suffer from cluster headaches, you know that not only can the pain be so intense that it’s almost unbearable, making any activity out of the question, but that the exhaustion that often follows cluster headaches can make it difficult to maintain an active lifestyle.

Not to mention, they come in waves known as “cluster periods.” A cluster period can last for weeks or even months.

During a cluster period, cluster headaches can occur every day — sometimes several times a day. Each “attack” can last anywhere from 15 minutes to three hours. These cluster periods occur episodically for one week to a year. Then, they are generally followed by a period of remission lasting three months or longer.

We understand how debilitating cluster headaches can be, and we are committed to helping you achieve long-term pain management. We offer a safe and effective treatment solution to manage your cluster headache pain.

  • Waking up with painful cluster headaches
  • Being out of commission for days or weeks at a time
  • Living in fear of the next cluster headache
  • All-day exhaustion
  • Dependence on painkillers for relief
  • Sleeping without disruption
  • Enjoying your life without pain
  • Making social plans without worrying about cluster headaches coming out of nowhere
  • Having completely pain-free days

What Causes Pain From A Cluster Headache?

Cluster headaches are an anomaly compared to other headaches, such as migraines. This is because there is no known cause for cluster headaches, nor are there any triggers. It’s thought that abnormalities with the hypothalamus, at the base of the brain and responsible for regulating hormones and controlling circadian rhythms, are to blame.

The pain of a cluster headache differs significantly from other headaches as well. Besides being excruciating, cluster headaches often occur on one side of the face. They can cause swelling, sensitivity to light, nausea, and a drooping eyelid on the affected side as well. Additionally, they’re also known to cause sweating, a runny nose, excessive tearing, redness on the affected side, and general restlessness.

The Neuragenex NFPM For Cluster Headache Pain

Neuragenex Neurofunctional Pain Management is an innovative, holistic approach to treating cluster headache pain tailored to each patient’s needs. Using a neurofunctional pain management approach, we treat cluster headache pain with a combination of therapies and lifestyle modifications.

Our goal is to reduce cluster headache pain and improve quality of life by reducing the frequency, length, and intensity of cluster headaches. Our protocol allows us to do this without resorting to invasive procedures, such as surgeries, which are expensive and can result in complications (like infections).

We also avoid prescribing pain medications, which can lead to various side effects and addiction, and chiropractic treatments, which are medically unproven and can also be risky.

Instead, we focus on helping you gain better control of your symptoms and reduce the intensity of your pain by using the following pain management strategies:

Electroanalgesia For Cluster Headache Pain

Electroanalgesia is a type of non-invasive therapy that uses electrical stimulation to manage chronic pain. Although it may seem like a radical new form of therapy, it’s been around for decades and has been proven safe and effective by the FDA.

The way electroanalgesia works is relatively simple: electrical currents are used to block pain signals from being sent to the brain, release endorphins, and reduce inflammation in affected areas. As a result, you can experience significant pain relief from cluster headaches without taking medication.

It’s worth mentioning that there are other types of electrical stimulation therapies out there, such as TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation).

However, TENS is not recommended for cluster headache pain relief. This is because TENS devices use low-pulse electrical currents that provide temporary pain relief and are nowhere near as effective as electroanalgesia, which uses high-pulse currents to achieve long-term relief.

As far as the procedure of electroanalgesia goes, it is non-invasive and painless. However, for it to be as effective as possible, multiple sessions are required. The more sessions you undergo, the more long-lasting the relief from cluster headache pain will be.

We recommend 12 weeks’ worth of electroanalgesia therapy at two sessions per week.

IV Therapy For Cluster Headache Pain

Intravenous (IV) therapy is another treatment that can be very beneficial to anyone suffering from cluster headaches. IV therapy allows the body to absorb nutrients, vitamins, and minerals directly into the bloodstream. This can help reduce inflammation in affected areas and support healthy brain function.

We can also use IV therapy to deliver fluids to the body, which can help improve energy levels and reduce fatigue, a common side effect of cluster headaches.

We offer IV therapy specifically tailored to each patient’s individual needs. We achieve this by performing bloodwork to evaluate each patient’s deficiencies and create a customized IV therapy program to target those issues.

Lifestyle Counseling For Cluster Headache Pain

We believe in treating cluster headache pain holistically. This means that we consider all aspects of our patients’ lives and provide them with lifestyle guidance to help reduce or eliminate the pain. For instance, we might recommend changes in diet, exercise routine, stress management techniques, and more to help improve their overall health.

Additionally, we provide resources and counseling that can help our patients better understand the causes of their headaches and learn how to better cope with the pain so that they can have a more enjoyable life.
